Concept Car sculpt for Fotoley & Asian Paints

Many say that your friends are the best people who can help you get work and word-of-mouth facilitates networking. Well, that was true for me. My friend, Ganesh Meshak, who also worked with me in the past on the bow ties, recommended me to his colleagues at Fotoley. I got to sculpt a concept car after a very long time!

Asian Paints was launching a new ceramic coating for cars and gave the contract to Fotoley to make an advertisement. The vehicle detailing section of Asian Paints is called Cartisan.

I love the concept route that they took: “Just as an artist creates, pays attention to detail, and creates art, so does Cartisan.” Simple & grounded! I guess, the physical factor of making is important. That’s why they reached out to me.

I planned to make 3 versions of this concept car. I took inspiration from different cars, while trying to keep away from making it look specific. I don’t need any drama of ripping off other designs.

For this project, I made supports out of laser-cut acrylic sheets and padded them up with thermocol. I then covered it with cling-film and then started adding the automotive clay.

For me, it was a wonderful experience to work with the talented people at Fotoley. I got to connect with them and learn about their journey into art and advertisements. India is a country filled with professionals whose education doesn’t match their work. And that is very true for artists! I’m glad that this team of artists chose to reach out to me! A special shoutout to Praveen Pillay for his wonderful camera skills! You can see more of his work in the instagram post above!

I hope that this was an interesting read for you! If you have any feedback I would like to know! I can always learn and improve!
